A new feature!

I've decided that every Tuesday I will feature an inspiration board I've created centered around a specific theme or piece of work I've created. There are so many beautiful and creative pieces out there that can add that special touch to your wedding day. It is also a great excuse for me to spend some time looking at beautiful things on the internet in the name of research!

I used one of my favourite wedding photos of my husband and I as the starting point for this board. My talented mother did all our wedding flowers and they were fantastic. She currently works at Okotoks Country Florist for those brides in Okotoks area!

I also included the programs I made for our wedding and a table number I recently created for a bride.

Chocolate brown, red, and burnt orange together create a beautiful colour palate for a fall wedding.

A June Wedding

I just received a beautiful picture from a bride whose table numbers I made back in June. Jaclyn found me through my Etsy shop and requested I make her some table numbers in Hot Pink and Chocolate. I was happy to oblige and had the order printed, assembled and shipped off the next day as it was only a few days before the wedding day!

She sent me a lovely picture from her photographer, Stacey Doyle. Take a look at her website and blog, she takes amazing pictures.

With a little bit of patience

I was able to snag my first treasury on Etsy. What is a treasury you ask? Here is a description from Etsy

"Satisfy your inner curator — Treasury to the rescue! The Treasury is a member-curated gallery of short-lived lists of 12 hand-picked items each (plus four alternates). It functions as a high-demand (and pretty!) promotional tool that many devoted Etsians fight to get. Members can feature their favorite items, items selected on a theme, or just however they like. The Treasury is not intended for self-promotion, but instead to acknowledge and share the many cool things for sale on Etsy. Admin often choose an exceptional Treasury list to promote on the home page and occasionally make them to tie into Storque articles or special events and occasions."

I was able to get a spot in Treasury West. I patiently sat at my lap top and constantly checked until enough lists had expired to drop the number of active lists to 222 which is the magic number. After that new spots open and I was able to secure on. My husband thought I was crazy to be glued to my laptop to create a list of items that weren't even my own. He just doesn't understand the world of Etsy! All the items I picked are so beautiful and most are on my WANT list.

Take a look before it expires tomorrow morning!

Curry, Aqua and Lime, oh my!

One week and counting

7 days. 7 days is all I have left until my bridal show. I've been able to get a lot of examples done but new ideas keep coming and I want to make more! I still have a lot to do including finishing my back drop and figuring out the layout of my booth!

In addition to getting ready for the bridal show there is so much more that needs to be done this week. We're getting out basement ready for new tenants, I've still got two shifts at the bookstore and I'm starting a new job at the bank tonight. Don't forget about the dayhome, cleaning, cooking and sleep. Oh how I would love some more sleep.

Fall is here ...

The days are definitely getting shorter and COLDER which has forced me to accept the fact that summer is indeed over and it's only a matter of time before the snow comes. I truly do love Fall though - the changing colours, sweaters and that fact that I was married in the fall. The changing of seasons and a request from a client has inspired a new fall collection I threw together this past weekend.

Homesick for Japan

I've spent a lot of time lately thinking about the year I spent in Japan during High School. I made some incredible friends, saw and learned so many amazing things. I have been home for 7 years now and the time has passed so fast. I would love to return someday and show my husband and children where I lived and the places I fortunate enough to travel to and to explore new places as well. To tide me over I've been cooking Japanese food which is not such an easy feat seeing as ingredients are hard to come by here in Alberta!

Photobucket

I've also been able to incorporate Japan into a new wedding collection. This collection features a beautiful pink, red and khaki sakura print paper. I used Kanji "Fuku" meaning fortune, wealth, blessing, good luck, prosperity, happiness. This is the first kanji in Fukuoka, the city which I lived in.

What's for dinner?

I just finished some menu tent cards for a repeat client on Etsy. Julie ordered some great table markers in June. She and her fiance have a Wine theme for their upcoming wedding in September. Their colours are black, crimson and champagne. For these menu's I used a black cardstock base followed by a lovely textured Crimson cardstock and finally a linen layer in Natural. I used a great grape vine graphic to tie in the wine theme. I am please with how they turned out and I hope Julie and Glenn are too!

Sounds like it will be a tasty dinner, especially the Pan Seared Tuna with Soy Ginger Sauce and Wasabi ... yummy!

Jumping Head First ...

And I'm scared sh*tless.

Thanks to a recommendation from my lovely mother I've been asked to participate in bridal show next month. The show in the Welcome Wagon Bridal Showcase here in Okotoks. On average there are usually at least 60 brides who come to the show. It is not a long show but it will be a great opportunity to meet new brides and to make contacts with other in the wedding industry.

In between my other two jobs, my family and my Etsy store I'm trying to find the time to get ready for the show! I have so many fresh ideas brewing in my head, I just need to find the time to get them on paper and computer. As I sit here typing this at midnight I have an order I need to get finished and packed up tonight or rather this morning ...

So the countdown begins, 37 days ...

Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Armstrong

On July 26 my husband's cousin, Marie, was married to Matthew. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony and a lovely reception. My husband, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and I set up everything before the wedding. Here are a few of the items I made for her reception.

For the past 8 or so months I've been working on the stationary/crafts for my brother in law and my super awesome friends' upcoming wedding. It's been sort of a test to see if this is really what I want to do!
