Homesick for Japan

I've spent a lot of time lately thinking about the year I spent in Japan during High School. I made some incredible friends, saw and learned so many amazing things. I have been home for 7 years now and the time has passed so fast. I would love to return someday and show my husband and children where I lived and the places I fortunate enough to travel to and to explore new places as well. To tide me over I've been cooking Japanese food which is not such an easy feat seeing as ingredients are hard to come by here in Alberta!

I've also been able to incorporate Japan into a new wedding collection. This collection features a beautiful pink, red and khaki sakura print paper. I used Kanji "Fuku" meaning fortune, wealth, blessing, good luck, prosperity, happiness. This is the first kanji in Fukuoka, the city which I lived in.

What's for dinner?

I just finished some menu tent cards for a repeat client on Etsy. Julie ordered some great table markers in June. She and her fiance have a Wine theme for their upcoming wedding in September. Their colours are black, crimson and champagne. For these menu's I used a black cardstock base followed by a lovely textured Crimson cardstock and finally a linen layer in Natural. I used a great grape vine graphic to tie in the wine theme. I am please with how they turned out and I hope Julie and Glenn are too!

Sounds like it will be a tasty dinner, especially the Pan Seared Tuna with Soy Ginger Sauce and Wasabi ... yummy!

Jumping Head First ...

And I'm scared sh*tless.

Thanks to a recommendation from my lovely mother I've been asked to participate in bridal show next month. The show in the Welcome Wagon Bridal Showcase here in Okotoks. On average there are usually at least 60 brides who come to the show. It is not a long show but it will be a great opportunity to meet new brides and to make contacts with other in the wedding industry.

In between my other two jobs, my family and my Etsy store I'm trying to find the time to get ready for the show! I have so many fresh ideas brewing in my head, I just need to find the time to get them on paper and computer. As I sit here typing this at midnight I have an order I need to get finished and packed up tonight or rather this morning ...

So the countdown begins, 37 days ...

Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Armstrong

On July 26 my husband's cousin, Marie, was married to Matthew. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony and a lovely reception. My husband, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and I set up everything before the wedding. Here are a few of the items I made for her reception.

Emily - I didn't make her, the bride and groom did, but she stole the show so I had to include her in my post
